RWB Jacob W. Thompson

Right Worshipful Brother Jacob W. Thompson is a Past Master of Silex Lodge #75 and currently serves as the Grand Historian of the Grand Lodge of Missouri, as well as the District Deputy Grand Master of the 25th Masonic District.

RW Bro. Thompson has served the Craft and his jurisdiction in several capacities over the years, having been Master at both his home Lodge, Silex Lodge #75 and later Troy Lodge #34. He was honored to have been appointed Grand Orator twice, and to serve on various Grand Lodge committees including as the chairman of the Masonic Education Committee 2019-2021,2022-present.  In 2020, Brother Thompson was named the recipient of the “Great Communicator” Award by M.W. Bro. Stanton T. Brown, II. In 2021 he was appointed Grand Historian and is honored to have held that post since.

He is an active member of the Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite, having belonged to the Valley of St. Louis since 2015, and holds the rank and decoration of Knight Commander of the Court of Honor. In St. Louis he serves as the Director of Education, works with various committees and in 2023 was installed as Wise Master of the St. Louis Chapter Rose Croix. At the Orient level he acted as Ritual Director for the Orient of Missouri’s statewide Virtual Cinematic Reunions held beginning in 2019. In 2018 he was appointed as a Sovereign Grand Commanders Fellow for the A.& A.S.R.,S.J.

RW Bro. Thompson is active in various York Rite Bodies and is a recipient of the Knight York Cross of Honor, having served as a presiding officer of Missouri Chapter #1 Royal Arch Masons, Hiram Council #1 Cryptic Masons, and Ivanhoe Commandery #8, Knights Templar as well as Past Sovereign Master of Edgar Franklin Coonrod Council #493, Allied Masonic Degrees.  He is an officer in Limerick Council #88, Knight Masons & Bruce Harmon Hunt York Rite College #162, a member of St. Louis Conclave, Red Cross of Constantine, Moolah Shrine- A.A.O.N.M.S., the Missouri Lodge of Research, Scottish Rite Research Society, a Fellow of the Grand College of Rites, the Masonic Order of the Bath, Ye Anciente Order of Corks, and is a Knight Commander, Red Branch of Eri.  Additionally, he serves on the Advisory Board for Wentzville Chapter, Order of DeMolay and received the Honorary Legion of Honor from DeMolay International in 2020. An avid supporter of education and enhancing the masonic experience for the Craft Bro. Thompson is Past President of the Midwest Conference on Masonic Education. Further his interests extend into contemplative masonic practices, and he is proud to be a Facilitator for the Masonic Legacy Society.

RW Bro. Thompson is a noted ritualist and speaker on the Scottish Rite, Craft Lodge symbolism and the exploration of the ritual, as well as masonic history. He has authored various articles and spoke in jurisdictions across the United States about topics relating to both history and symbolism.

Outside of the Craft, Bro. Thompson enjoys a good cigar and bourbon, playing golf, hunting quail, and checking out new breweries and distilleries when & where he finds them while dragging his wife, Megan along for the experience. He currently works as Assistant Vice President/ Loan Officer for a community bank in northeast Missouri. He is an alumnus of the Paul J.  Barret Graduate School of Banking in Memphis, TN and Past Secretary of the Louisiana Chamber of Commerce and remains an active alumnus of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity.
