RWB Carlin L. Smittle

Right Worshipful Brother Carlin Smittle was born in Wright County, MO, growing up in the Springfield area where he currently resides. Smittle attended Strafford High School and Drury College before entering the US Army with deployments in Vietnam and Virginia assigned to Military Police duties. Returning to civilian life, Right Worshipful Brother Smittle completed work in Law Enforcement, Hospitality Industry and private business industry.

Right Worshipful Brother Smittle was raised in Strafford Lodge No. 608, transferred to Petroleum Lodge No. 474 in Tulsa, OK, returning to Springfield and transferred his membership to Gate of the Temple Lodge No. 422.    Smittle is Past Master of Gate of The Temple No. 422 and Solomon Lodge No. 271 and has served the Grand Lodge as the DDGM for the 34th District from 2012 to 2014.     Member of He is also a Life Member of the Missouri Lodge of Research; past member York Rite Temple Board, Springfield, MO and served for several years on the MOCHIP Program, working out of Springfield.

Right Worshipful Brother Smittle is Past High Priest of Springfield Chapter No. 15 RAM; Past Illustrious Master Zabud Council No. 25 Cryptic Masons receiving the Grand Council of Cryptic Masons Lewis & Clark Award Region 6 in 2015 and served as Regional Deputy Grand Master, Region 6 in 2015.  He is a Past Eminent Commander of St. John’s Commandery No. 20 Knights Templar in Springfield, MO, and received the Knights of the York Cross of Honour in 2015.

Right Worshipful Brother Smittle is a member and Puissant Sovereign Elect of St. Christopher Conclave, Red Cross of Constantine, Springfield; with membership and officer’s station in Ray V. Denslow York Rite College No. 180;  Cell Airne Council Knight Masons No. 76; Ozark Council No. 240 Allied Mason Degrees; William Riley Probst Chapel No. 106 St. Thomas of Acon; Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priest, House of Lords Tabernacle, No. LXXII; Springfield Preceptory UD, Yeoman of York. And, a Life Member of The Royal Order of Scotland.

He is a member of Valley of Joplin Scottish Rite, A.A.S.R. Orient of Missouri, Past Master of Kadosh, Joplin Consistory No. 3; Past President of the KCCH Club and coronated 33rd Degree, Inspector General Honorary in 2011.

He is a member of Abou Ben Adhen Shrine, Springfield and past member of Akdar Shrine, Tulsa, OK, Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. While in Tulsa, he served as President of the Central States Shrine Association Foot Patrol Association in 1978.  At Abou Ben Adhen he was a member of the Ritual Cast from 2005 – 2011.

Right Worshipful Brother Smittle and his “High School Sweetheart” Vivian will celebrate their 52nd wedding anniversary in November. Their extended family of two sons, living in Springfield and Annandale, VA; two daughters‐in‐law; and five granddaughters ranging in age from 6 to 19 provide a wonderful life.
